EMDR is a unique, nontraditional form of psychotherapy that helps diminish negative feelings associated with traumatic events. Unlike most talk therapy, EMDR focuses less on the traumatic event itself and more on disturbing emotions that result from the event (Psychology Today, 2021). EMDR can also help treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most researched and effective therapies. It involves challenging unhelpful and unwanted thoughts and behavior patterns, and developing more helpful patterns instead. CBT can be used for treating depression, anxiety, panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger issues, trauma, and other mental health issues.
TF-CBT is an evidenced based treatment that focuses on specific emotional and mental health needs of trauma survivors. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple, and complex trauma experiences (tfcbt.org, 2020).
Solution-Focused Therapy concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring one's goals for the future in order to find quicker resolutions to one's problems.
"I believe that through a compassionate and understanding authentic relationship, therapy is a place where people can grow, foster their unique strengths, and reach their personal goals. I use a collaborative approach so that together, we can explore challenges, and strengthen your ability to cope and problem solve in order to help you reach your goals. I blend a combination of effective and proven evidence-based practices such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Mindfulness, and other modalities to help my clients work through trauma, anxiety, depression, anger issues, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, and more".
"I have worked with children, teenagers, adults, and families in multiple settings including community mental health, foster care, in schools, and in private practice. Through my experience in these settings I have been able to help many different types of clients with a variety of issues".
